Marae Visit

Today we went to Arowhenua Marae to learn about what it is like on a Marae.
We went with our buddy class Room 4.

Here we are waiting to be called onto the marae as part of the powhiri.

For lunch we had a hangi. A hangi is a traditional way that Maori cook food. They cook the food in the ground!

The pile of dirt behind the man is where our hangi is.

This is when they started to dig out our food. That is steam coming out of the ground
